Human T-Cell Lymphotropic Virus-1 And Cancer
An associated cancer is Adult T-cell Leukemia (ATLL). Approximately 10 to 20 million people are infected worldwide. HTLV-1 is endemic in southwest Japan, in and around the Caribbean islands, in parts of Central Africa and South America. HTLV1 can be transmitted via sexual or blood-blood contact. It can also be passed through breast milk and from mother to fetus. HTLV-1 is an RNA virus (a retrovirus) that can infect T-cells, B-lymphocytes, monocytes, and fibroblasts. About 3-5 percent of people with HTLV1 will develop adult T-cell leukemia, with most cases occurring in middle aged people.
At least one of HTLV1′s regulatory proteins, (Tax), is thought to be involved with ATLL development. Tax may contribute to carcinogenesis by inducing cellular reproduction, activating cell survival proteins, and also may contribute to chromosomal instability. Several other retroviruses are also associated with cancer and the use of retroviral vectors in cancer treatment has to take into consideration the possibility that the treatments could cause major problems
How To Survive Cancer
Life after cancer can be anything but ordinary. Survivor-ship is a broad term that includes not only people who have been diagnosed with cancer, but also the friends and family members of people who have been diagnosed. Following the treatment period, during which cancer patients have an abundance of support and helpful information, survivors may feel at a loss for this support, with many unanswered questions. It is important that survivors know it takes time to recover and readjust to life. It may not be possible to immediately return to their previous version of “normal”.
They may need to take some time to determine what is normal for them at the current time. Quality of life is usually measured with a survey taken by a person about their general situation and feelings. If a cancer patient or survivor is not happy with their condition, they are said to have a low quality of life. This may lead the patient’s doctors to change the treatment or follow up program in order to make the patient feel better. Having a high Health Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) is important to cancer patients and survivors because they tend to receive more consistent care and follow through with the suggested treatments.
How Does The Act Of Metastasis Form New Tumors
A metastatic tumor cell must successfully settle down in a new organ to form a secondary tumor. This process is called colony formation. The metastatic cell must create a suitable environment within a hostile foreign environment that will allow for their growth and survival. This appears to be the make or break step in metastasis.
The surrounding tissue of the new organ will be very different from that of the original area, and it will mostly be unfriendly to tumor cell survival. If the metastatic cell cannot change the new tissue into a more friendly environment, it will not successfully colonize the new site (for example, promote angiogenesis), and a secondary tumor will be unable to form. In these cases the tumor cells are said to be dormant: they do not die, but they are incapable of growing. Acquiring additional mutations often let these dormant micrometastases to overcome the difficulties they face in new tissues and to successfully colonize it, forming a true metastatic tumor.
Impairments of cells
To find out what is the cause for cancer is extremely complicated, and each different varieties of cancer have their own way of giving symptoms. So what we need to know is specifics. We can’t say specific symptoms for a particular cancer either. It’s very chaotic, and often can be determined well only by the experienced doctors, who are specialist in the work of cancer treatments. The reasons for cancers are many, and tobacco has the highest probability of inducing cancer, so one has to stay away not only from smoking, but by any and all means that deals with tobacco, or even radiations.
Sometimes even not maintaining a proper diet are also the cause for this, and such as obesity, and other environmental damages can also risk the chances of cancers. Through this, the genes are being affected, thus corrupting the cells that in turn become the cause for the cancer. In very rare cases, the cancer might have caught due to hereditary.
Lip cancer marks
Lips cancer creates a kind of bubble like texture around the lips, and on the lip portion. It dries the lip very easily, and during summer season some people have witnessed having a lip that is so dry that it would not even look like lips at all. it does not stop there, it gradually becomes harden, and affects the other parts of the body as well.
With a set of diagnosis some patient has gotten over this cancer, and even after all this the marks had not left them. Lip cancer can come due to smoking too, or not by having proper intake of food too. For example even fruits play a vital role here, and this kind of cancer is a very rare in the world, but the worst part it is not now. One in ten patients are having this lip cancer who mostly fail in their diagnosis as well.
